Fashion Flats, 2019
After years of oppressive policy and disinvestment in the Albina neighborhood, there is a vision for opportunity and growth. Fashion Flats brings afrofuturist clothing to Albina, through an upcycled fashion retail space, reimagined laundry workspace, community maker space and housing for formerly displaced families. The creative nature of this proposal invites the community to engage the culture, ingenuity and future of Black Albina. While, in true fashion form, a runway connecting it all allows the public to experience the history, resilience and prosperity of Portland's Black diaspora.
